If you have a great product to sell, here is an important consideration. The internet has evolved tremendously, there are many folks out there selling the ‘how to get rich quick’ using the net, and truthfully, it’s not quite that easy. People now are looking for you, this has caused a tremendous shift from print advertisting, tv advertising and phone book adverts to companies trying to PULL people into their website rather than PUSHING people to their products and services.
Seth Godin, a famous marketer and author of Permission Based Marketing teaches us that we need to provide our prospects with an incentive to come back to a website, feed them with information, fun, education, etc. They are giving you permission to educate them and sell your product to them. Let them spread the word about your site to their friends through viral marketing techniques: Here’s the key to all of this: your product and / or service needs to stand out from the crowd: What does your product do differently? How will you keeping PULLING people back?

The web now belongs to the people: we’ve seen this demonstrated with myspace, youtube and many of the other ’social’ marketing websites out there. Some new methods or very web 2.0 tools that you can implement to your fishing product related site are Videos. Create a short ‘viral’ 30 second video of you catching a fish with your new lure, or how a large mouth bass reacts to your new stinky spray…. The possiblities are endless, but the key is to create several different forms of media that can help you sell your fishing related products online. Don’t forget your blog! A blog is also a very powerful tool, using an RSS feed and a dedication to writing, you can help educate your customers and prospects. Become the expert on jig fishing, or the expert on salmon fishing. Show folks how to care for their lures or fishing tackle… The point is, draw people in with your knowledge and let them spread the word.
